Hubertus Clüsserath Riesling Kabinett Trocken

The ability of the 400 million-year-old weathered grey slate soil of the estate’s ‘Apotheke’ vineyard to retain water helps create wonderfully fresh, yet rich Kabinett wines that are full of finesse.

With a pronounced, yet delicate, nose of pink grapefruit, yellow apple, aniseed and fine spices, this wine combines creaminess and elegance on the palate with a ripe spiciness in its intense finish.

The simple flavours of roasted root vegetables are made for this Riesling’s light, crisp taste; or salads with a vinaigrette dressing (mayonnaise tends to clash with Riesling’s bracing acidity). A simple grilled white fish, like halibut, is complemented by this Riesling, allowing both the wine and the fish to shine, as is a light chicken dish cooked with lemon and capers, where the simple flavours are not overwhelmed by this delicate Riesling.
