Künstler Hochheim Stein Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) Dry VDP.Erste Lage®

This premium Pinot Noir already shows elegant Burgundian fruits with a wild cherries and blackcurrant nose.

The sand content of the vineyard soils – these run from sandy, to gravelly with a dose of loess, together with tertiary marl above the bedrock – means the soil warms rapidly and this leads to early flowering and a longer vegetation period, all of which goes to create a wine with a fine and concentrated style, with subtle and silky aromas.

JAMES SUCKLING SAYS: “You could easily mistake this for a wine from a premier cru site on the Côtes de Beaune such is the concentration, tannic power and polish of this wine. Still a bit closed, so better from 2019 through 2035.” 94 points

Residual Sugar 0.1 g/l
Acidity 5.2 g/l
Alcohol 14.0 %

Spirited and deep wines come from this light, sandy soil vineyard, allowing Pinot Noir vines to deliver elegant, deep and concentrated wines, matching those of Burgundy itself.

Game, venison and wild boar are at one with this wine style (and a jus of Pinot Noir). However, don’t be restricted by tradition as this wine goes very well with all sorts of fish including cod, haddock, lake perch, John Dory and sole. Think differently, too, and cook on the BBQ.
