Künstler Hochheimer Stielweg Riesling ‘Alte Reben’ Trocken VDP.Erste Lage®

This is a sustaining, highly aromatic Riesling, yet, despite the enormous fruitiness with sweet aromas of ripe peaches or apricots, it’s a wine that retains the delicate Riesling character with its subtle elegance and minerality.

The product of deep-rooted ‘old vines’ that are over 50 years’ old from the estate’s top Stielweg site where the soil is quite heavy and consists of nutrient rich loam and clay. This helps create a very concentrated and elegant wine, with some vintages suitable for storing for up to 20 years.

Goes wonderfully well with fish and shellfish alike. Grilled sea bass with lentils and a beurre blanc sauce. This ‘Old Vine’ Riesling really works with dressed lobster, mussels in a white wine sauce (use this wine!) and particularly well with baked monkfish with a creamy, slightly spicy sauce. Medium spiced Thai dishes work extremely well too.
