Künstler Hochheim Reichestal Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) ‘GG’ VDP.Grosse Lage®

The palate of this top vineyard’s Pinot Noir possesses a level of maturity and fullness, together with a silky structure and intense fruit flavours.

The Reichestal’s calcareous rock, sandy loam and pure clay is ideal for what are called ‘Burgundy’ varieties, added to which its exposed position at the mouth of the Main and Rhine, the Reichs Valley, is blessed with a micro climate making it one of the warmest in the Rheingau.

JAMES SUCKLING SAYS: “The smoky oak is still a bit dominant on the nose, but the stunning interplay of berry fruit and super-elegant tannins on the palate leaves no doubt that this belongs in the first league of Pinot globally. Very long, complete finish that suggests this is only going to get better through 2040.” 95 POINTS

Residual Sugar 0.1 g/l
Acidity 4.9 g/l
Alcohol 13.5 %

The perfect example of the winemaker’s art, this rich and supple Pinot Noir really shows the benefit of cellaring with the wine having matured and taken on a more complex personality at this stage.

Veal escalope in a red wine sauce partners very well with this wine, as does a well-aged fillet steak with a creamy peppercorn sauce. Roast Gressingham duck, served with plums is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. Needless to say, Beef Wellington has to be an option!
