Pfeffingen Weissburgunder Trocken VDP.Gutswein

Only the best Weissburgunder grapes from the famous Ungsteiner vineyards were selected for this special wine.

Grown on a limestone soil this wine has character: pure minerality, a charming fruit character of ripe pears, walnuts and quince, and a rich but elegant body are signs of a wine with long ageing potential.

After hand-selecting the grapes and very gentle (low pressure) pressing, the wine was fermented in modern, temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. A long lees-contact with traditional ‘battonage’ for nearly 6 months has given the wine a rich, but elegant and creamy character.

Alcohol 12.5 %
Acidity 6.1 g/l
Residual Sugar 4.7 g/l

An ideal wine to match with many different kinds of food, such as grilled meats, mushrooms, asparagus, Asian dishes, potato and pumpkin soups, fish and other seafoods.

The Weiβburgunder grape variety (Pinot Blanc in other countries) thrives in the almost Mediterranean climate of the Pfalz (Palatinate), and is also the ideal partner for the locally-grown asparagus, when in season. April or May is ‘Spargel Woche’ (Asparagus Week – although it often lasts for 6 weeks!) where these gourmet veg are served with new potatoes, Schinken (sliced local hams) and a hollandaise sauce.
