Weingut Stigler Ihringen Winklerberg Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay Sekt VDP

An elegant and creamy sparkling wine with a ‘biscuity’ flavour combined with mineral notes and a very fine mousse, the result of being left for over 5 years on its ‘lees’ before being released for sale, and typical of what can only be found in a serious bottle of sparkling wine.

Made by the méthode traditionnelle from 100 % Chardonnay grapes from the best vineyards from around the village of Ihringen, the vines grow on a mixture of volcanic and loam soils.

Serious care and attention goes into producing this exciting and truly enjoyable wine and, in truth, bottle fermented, well-aged ‘Deutscher Sekt’ is presently something of an undiscovered treasure in UK and represents exceptional value for money and enjoyment – a real ‘Class Act’!

Whilst an ‘any time’ drink, that can make happy times even happier, this is also a serious wine that can add both style and enjoyment to fine dining and enhance any dish, such is the versatility of this superb wine.

According to the UK Guild of Sommeliers, German sparkling wine has the potential be ‘the next big thing’. An interesting article from ‘The Champagne Country’ published 150 years ago, in 1867, stated: “There is, in fact, not a single wine establishment in all Champagne which is not under the control, more or less, of a native of Germany”. Whilst things change, it’s worth noting how many Champagne brands still have German-sounding names!
