Selectively harvested from old vines from a special part of the estate’s wholly-owned Serriger Herrenberg vineyard with its perfect southern exposure on really steep slopes of red slate.
The Herrenberg Spätlese was fermented spontaneously in stainless steel tanks, with the wine then left ‘sur lie’ for a more intense extraction of flavours to create a wonderful complex wine.
This is a highly fruit-driven wine with a bouquet of grapefruit, peach, gooseberry and lemon and has a wonderfully balanced acidity and minerality.
This sweet wine is a perfect with any dessert and has great ageing potential.
“Intense grapefruit character and supercharged flavours, this is not exactly subtle but is packed with flavour. Be prepared to meet your maker! (James Suckling; 91 points)
