Hand-harvested from old vines planted on a particular part of the hilltop of the estate’s Serriger Würtzberg vineyard. This steep-sloped vineyard with its red slate soil has a perfect south-facing aspect.
The name ‘Alte Kupp’ translates as ‘old hilltop’. The grapes were harvested when perfectly ripe so show great aromatic fruitiness. This is a fruit-driven wine showing the flavours of peach, quince and gooseberry and a nose of fresh lemon with a hint of spiciness.
“Quite generous and substantial, but it also has a quite firm acidic backbone…there`s some real power and the balance is impressive.” (James Suckling; 91 points)
